The Juniata River is a tributary of the Susquehanna River, stretching approximately 104 miles (167 km) through central Pennsylvania. Much of its route is scenic, featuring a broad and shallow course that weaves between mountain ridges and steep water gaps. The river's watershed covers 3,400 square miles (8,800 km²), making up roughly one-eighth of the Susquehanna's drainage area, with around two-thirds of it being forested. As the second largest tributary of the Susquehanna, river traverses ridges of sandstone between limestone valleys, and while some of its tributaries face pollution issues, the main river is generally considered clean by regional standards. The only city with a population over ten thousand in the watershed is Altoona, and the steep slopes along the river have mostly prevented extensive development. This river holds a host of different species of fish but the smallmouth bass population is unreal.

Presque Isle State Park is a 3,112-acre Pennsylvania State Park on an arching, sandy peninsula jutting into Lake Erie, 4 miles west of the city of Erie, in Millcreek Township, Erie County, Pennsylvania, in the United States. The peninsula sweeps northeastward, surrounding Presque Isle Bay along the park's southern coast. It has 13 miles (21 km) of roads, 21 miles (34 km) of recreational trails, 13 beaches for swimming, and a marina. Popular activities at the park include swimmingboatinghikingbiking, and birdwatching.

The recorded history of Presque Isle begins with the Erielhonan, a Native American tribe who gave their name to Lake Erie, and includes French, British, and American forts. With the growing importance of shipping on Lake Erie in the 19th century, Presque Isle became home to several lighthouses and what later became a United States Coast Guard station. In 1921, it became a state park, and as of 2007 it hosts over 4 million visitors per year, the most of any Pennsylvania state park

Lake Erir Tribs.png

I offer a half wade spin fishing trip focused on Smallmouth Bass in the Spring April - May for one or two clients. Pennsylvania features numerous streams with quality smallmouth, especially the tributaries along Lake Erie, known for larger bass. These locations provide excellent cover for fish to ambush prey, set against the beautiful backdrop of PA's Lake Erie. You can also catch Steelhead and other Species at this time of year
While wading through these rocky, slippery streams can be challenging, it’s crucial that participants can comfortably walk at least 4 miles on dry land, as most trips cover 1 to 2 miles. Swimming ability is required. We will use artificial lures from brands like 412 Baits, Scared Fishless Baits, Rapala, along with top-notch gear from Fishing Online, including GLoomis, Fenwick, and. Bull Bay Rods, Shimano and Pflueger reels, all spooled with Gamma Edge line. This can be a fantastic chance to catch trophy fish including Brown Trout or Steelhead

Steelhead-Alley-Map.jpg

The Pennsylvania shoreline of Lake Erie features numerous tributaries, with the larger ones experiencing various seasonal movements of fish from the lake. In the spring, species such as Brown Trout, various suckers, Steelhead pike, gar, catfish, more migrate from the lake.
These streams can change from year to year; high flows can fill in holes from the season while creating new ones. While navigating these streams can be challenging and occasionally slippery, they are generally easier to traverse than many other streams in northwestern Pennsylvania. Our main focus will be fishing Elk Creek, located in Girard, PA, just west of Erie.
Additionally, The Mile Creeks to the east of Erie can also hold fish during the spring and can offer great fishing opportunities. While these waters may not have giant bass, with 20-inch fish possible, they don't feature hefty Lake Erie smallmouths. This trip offers a refreshing change pace.
