Fall Frenzy?

Updated: Oct 25, 2024

Sometimes in the Fall you can have very good days and very bad days. Fall smallmouth will be moving to winter areas depending on water temperature they could be there in Mid-October. This can be an extremely hard time to catch them. Finding them can be difficult they can be pretty much anywhere due to migration. When I am out, I look at all areas if I can get out a few times a week I target as many different types of areas as possible on cloudy days, your luck goes up fish are moving around more.

Like in spring look in or near shallow water. In the fall water temp in the river are in the 60’s here in western Pa late September thru mid-October. Another factor is low clear water conditions. Try not to fish on bright sunny days in these conditions fish are hunkered down and tough to catch. You can catch them by fishing close to big boulders or drop offs.
